OJDC Interviews

The Oregon Judicial Diversity Coalition (OJDC) is interviewing judicial endorsement candidates for the Multnomah County Circuit Court vacancy created by Judge Stuart’s retirement on Tuesday, June 27th at 5:30 pm.  Members can participate in-person or by telephone.  The interviews will take place at K&L Gates (1 SW Columbia St., Ste 1900, Portland, OR).  If you intend to appear in person, please contact Ivan Resendiz Gutierrez by email at ivan.resendiz@millernash.com so he can add your name to the attendee list.  Individuals not on the list will be unable to enter the building after hours.

OAPABA announces new 2017-18 Board!

The Oregon Asian Pacific American Bar Association held its Annual Member Meeting and Board Elections on June 12, 2017.

Elections results are as follows:

The new officers and board members will join incoming president, Derily Bechthold and region representatives Kirsten Naito, Elizabeth Schultz, Nani Apo, and at large representatives Kristin Asai, and Jennifer Yeh.

OAPABA gives a warm thanks to its outgoing officers and board members: Jovita Wang (president), Dan Simon (secretary), Trung Tu (at large representative), Yufeng Luo (Willamette law student representative), Kevin Pham and Max Zhang (Lewis & Clark law student representatives), and Daniel Phung & Jeffrey Chong (University of Oregon law student representatives).

OAPABA also thanks the law firm of Perkins Coie for hosting the event and for its continual support.

OJDC Meeting – Multnomah County Circuit Court

The Oregon Judicial Diversity Coalition (OJDC), comprised of the Oregon Chapter of the National Bar Association (OC-NBA), Oregon Asian Pacific American Bar Association (OAPABA), the LGBT Bar Association of Oregon (OGALLA), and the Oregon Hispanic Bar Association (OHBA), is accepting applications for the endorsement of judicial candidates applying for the vacancy on the Multnomah County Circuit Court created by the retirement of Judge Diana Stuart.

Judicial candidates seeking endorsement by any or all of the aforementioned groups are instructed to send the following information to Angela Franco Lucero at angela@tkatlaw.com by Friday, June 9, at 5 pm, to be considered for an interview:

1) A fully-filled copy of the OJDC questionnaire available through OAPABA’s website (http://oapaba.org/judicial-endorsements/).
2) A copy of the application materials he or she is submitting to the Governor, including the judicial interest form, resume, and letters of recommendation.
3) OJDC application materials MUST be submitted together in one single PDF document.
After receiving a completed application, the OJDC will contact applicants to schedule an interview. In-person or telephone interviews will take place at a law firm in downtown Portland and will be scheduled sometime the last week of June or first week of July depending upon the availability of the candidates.
